2019 SHPE STAR Award Nominations

Nominations Now Being Accepted for 2019 STAR AWARDS
Due by July 10, 2019

SHPE will proudly recognize its 2019 SHPE Technical Achievement and Recognition (STAR) Award recipients during the Excellence in STEM Luncheon on Friday, November 1, and STAR Awards Gala on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at the 2019 SHPE National Convention in Phoenix, Arizona.
The prestigious awards honor outstanding professionals for their dedication, commitment, and selfless efforts to grow and advance Hispanics in STEM careers.

A full list of awards and their descriptions is available here. Please review all nomination criteria in its entirety before submitting a nomination.

Once you have begun the online nomination process you will have an opportunity to provide your email address so that you may save the nomination and complete at a later time. Once the nomination is submitted it is considered complete and final and will be evaluated as such. You will not be able to modify the nomination after it has been submitted as final. We will also be unable to receive such information separately via email. The STAR Awards committee will not consider any content provided outside of the nomination portal when reviewing a nomination. 


Nomination Guidelines: 

  • A candidate can be nominated for more than one award.

  • The candidate must meet the criteria as stated in each award description.

  • Members and corporate/government partners are able to nominate peers.

To submit a nomination, the following is required:

  • Biographical sketch that is no more than 750 words.
  • Nominee Merit Description that is no more than 750 words covering the following:
    • Describe the nominee’s contributions and achievements, including dates and impact. 
    • Describe specific examples of how the nominee’s efforts resulted in the enhancement, development, and/or promotion of SHPE.
  • Letters of recommendation or other materials that might support the nomination. All letters of recommendation or support materials must be combined and submitted as a single PDF file. 
  • Include a color photograph of the nominee. High resolution headshot of the nominee must be submitted as a JPG file with a recommended DPI of 300.
  • Current organizational chart (in .pdf format) showing placement of nominee.
  • List of nominee's professional activities. 
  • List of nominee's community activities and engagement.
  • Current copy of nominee's resume in .pdf format. 
Additional consideration will be provided to current SHPE members in good standing.
All materials received become the property of SHPE.
